How Will “Local Search” Change in 2010?

Posted by on Nov 14, 2009 in Bing, Google, Search Engines, Yahoo! | 2 comments

I have not wrote a piece like this in awhile, but thought we are due for a “prediction” for 2010.  So how will local search change in 2010? Drastically in my opinion, mainly due to mobile search.  Right now Smartphone’s are more like computers, with a phone, not the other way around. Statistics show that smartphone purchases will out pace pc purchases by 2011 (Chart below courtesy Silicon Alley Insider) ….hmmm…that means you will see huge changes in the coming year with mobile search becoming ever more critical, especially...

Speaking At Social Networking World Forum

Posted by on Nov 8, 2009 in Social Media Events, ty downing | 1 comment

I just wanted to give a quick update on my travels to my home state, California.  Right now, I am sitting in my hotel room trying to tackle the poor Wi-Fi service in this nice hotel (Yelp review coming) Ok, so I am in San Jose, California, just miles away from where I was born, Fremont, California. Tim Moore and I are here for an exciting international event called Social Networking World Forum – North America. The company that organized this event, 6 Degrees, is based in England, and are extremely organized in  international...

I Spoke At SMBF And Loved It!

Posted by on Oct 24, 2009 in Social Media, Social Media Events, ty downing | 0 comments

You may be asking, “What is SMBF” right? Well, this acronym was no doubt a popular #hashtag trending on Twitter. It stands for Social Media Business Forum, an event that took place just a few days ago in Raleigh, NC. A well known social media thought leader, and good friend, Wayne Sutton (@waynesutton) invited me to have a speaking part, and I took him up on it.  I had a blast at his event. He combined with Kipp Bodner (@kbodnar32), Jeffrey L. Cohen (@dgtlpapercuts), and Ryan Boyles (@therab) to create the first ever SMBF ...

WordPress Plugin Useful For Real Estate Agents

Posted by on Oct 14, 2009 in Uncategorized | 0 comments

Take a look at this mock video (My actual agent, Alex Paen) I created using the @Apture WordPress plugn.  I could totally see how real estate agents could use this to promote not only their listings, but add additional helpful information all in one place….keeping the potential client on their site or blog…”Stickiness” is critical!  What’s different? If you notice at the bottom of this video, I inserted a map of this property, link to other videos Alex has on YouTube, and other quick items they can reach him on...

Social Media For Real Estate, A Perfect Combo!

Posted by on Sep 17, 2009 in Social Media, Social Media Events, ty downing | 0 comments

Last week our team comprised of me, Tim Moore and Lori Lorusso, had the privilege of teaching nearly 20 real estate agents from Coldwell Banker, Sea Coast Realty here in Wilmington, NC, the basics of social media.  We had a blast with them, and we equally learned a lot from them.  Social media is really an incredible useful tool for real estate agents, and as you’ll see from the testimonials, they agree.  One of the agents, Ken Keegan, actually received 2 leads after the first day of our training using LinkedIn…no joke,...

This has been one of the busiest summers for sure on the social media circuit, and it has no sign of slowing.
